I hit this spot up every once in a while. One of the top Mexican spots in Boca Raton. I usually get the chicken tacos which are great. They put a little too much onion on them for my taste. This time I got the California burrito that I've heard about. I'd give it a 7/10. Good flavor but it wouldn't be my first choice. A bit too much avocado. Overall, it's a great spot to eat at. One thing I don't like is when you dine in you come out smelling like a burrito yourself. But I guess that's most hole in the walls, anyway.

This place is always great. Their burritos are great and their tacos are small but a great portion. This time I got 2 chicken tacos with onions and cilantro and they were both outstanding. I definitely recommend this place for an authentic Mexican fix. The girls who work their are so sweet as well!

I like the steak tacos better than the chicken. Haven't had much else but it's pretty bomb. Chips n salsa are good too

Yuck. Overpriced. Smells like cleaning agent inside. Salsa bar has no flavor. So many other options in the area, choose else where. Ordered traditional style soft tacos, came with only one corn tortilla, when it should come with two. Fish had no flavor. Pork had no flavor. Cilantro and onions were blah as well.

I was craving it like a fiend last night, and I was so happy to get it. The California Burrito is incredible and even while writing about it now, my mouth is starting to water and my brain is screaming at me to leave work and get one! Amazing food all around....also the taco salads are so big, you'd need a full tank of gas in order to drive around the bowl!

Honestly I love this place. Whenever I am in town I make it a point to come in and get the California burrito. One of my favorites in the area!

If you live in downtown Boca, this could become your staple for a quick, cheap and easy meal. It has for me! My husband and I mostly go for their specialty burritos, the JP (chicken with cream-cheese-stuffed fried jalapenos) and the California (Carne Asada, french fries(!) and avacado). Funny that Taco Prince only makes french fries to put in the California Burrito; they don't offer them as a side. You may want to phone your order in on Friday or Saturday night, as it can get pretty busy. Another tip... Taco Prince has made-in-mexico Coca Cola (made with real sugar instead of corn syrup) in the old fashioned green bottles, as well as Negra Modelo beer.

Every now and then I'll find myself craving tacos and I'm too lazy to make them or don't want to go buy what I need for my wife to make them. In that case I'll come to Taco Prince as it is fairly close to me. It is a small, simple no frills joint which I can appreciate. Their tacos are decent. Not the best and not the worst. I always go with the soft steak with onions and cilantro. I usually get chips and salsa and a Jarritos soda. It takes a little time to get your order as they make it fresh. This is nice and definitely appreciated I always bring my own hot sauce and load it on the tacos. The chips are consistently fresh and the salsa is OK flavor wise. It reminds me of canned chunky salsa actually. In summary Taco Prince is OK, nothing more and nothing less. It fixes my taco cravings that I get from time to time and that's about it.

I frequent this place as its close by. I reccomend the california burrito. The tacos are good too. Over all decent american mexican food with a touch from DF

My wife and I have always driven by this place but never actually stopped in. We were in and around Mizner and decided to pop in for a light lunch. The overly-opinionated woman at the counter talked me into two more tacos than I originally intended on eating, however she insisted they were small, so I took her up on it. I got the chicken and my wife the beef. I couldn't believe how bland my meal was. My tacos reminded me of an episode of Portlandia they were that uneventful and uninspiring. The chicken wasn't even marinated. How in the name of modern restauranteering do you not marinate a meat, especially at a Mexican restaurant? There was a little more flavor to my wife's meal, but nothing that knocked me out of my chair. We absorbed the hit and couldn't wait to put Taco Prince in the rearview mirror. Or so we thought... As the afternoon progressed, I began to feel funny. Not haha Richard Pryor funny, but stomach felt awful to the point where I had to lay down for several hours (so like a Carlos Mencia funny). It didn't feel like a cold coming on or anything, but something wasn't right. I had no appetite for dinner and opted to lay in bed and try and continue to try and sleep it off. It wasn't going away. And unfortunately the only place 'it' was going was into the toilet. My Seinfeld-esque vomit-free streak came to a violent end. No joke, I had to continually flush the toilet in-between purges it was coming up that frequently. Now, given that it was the only meal that I ate that day, I can confidently say something didn't go right in the kitchen at Taco Prince that day. It took a week for me to get my appetite back and not walk around feeling nauseous. If you're looking for a quick taco meal in Boca, I'm sure Rocco's Tacos will satisfy your needs. If you're looking to drop a few pounds and start your post-vacation detox off on the right foot, I recommend Taco Prince on South Federal Highway in Boca Raton.

Where to start. Well first off, this place is in a great location. Right at the heart of Meizner Park. Parking is awful as there are only very few spots to park. The positive aspects of this place: Location Cleanliness They have Mexican Coca Cola! Negative: Food is awful ( I tried every taco on their menu, I like to experience food so I went to this place twice, both times the tacos were not seasoned, meat was dry, just all around awful ) Chef needs to learn how to season his meats, he has no idea what seasoning is. Parking is awful, few parking spots. Salsa bar 0/10 - Salsa seems to have been there for ages and tastes old. FYI - Most reviews here are old hence them saying that the tacos are 2 for $4, they're 2 for $6.

I finally tried this out for lunch a couple of weeks ago after driving by it a million times. It always looked not too appealing from the outside but after reading some good reviews I decided to try it. I'm pretty happy I did. Totally casual counter order taco shop. Decent prices, glad to not pay a ton of $ for tacos for once! I had the two fish tacos. Nice soft tortillas & I was told the fish was Mahi, which tasted good. The tacos are SMALL but it was the perfect bite for me with a side of chips & salsa. I like the small salsa bar & the vibe was nice & relaxed. Seems a college place since I was asked for my ID when ordering a Corona... That was sweet :) Service was friendly. Nothing special which is why I gave 3 stars but nothing wrong either. Oh yea, prices on Listed on their site are incorrect. I think everything is like a couple $s more than posted.

We were looking for a new place on our way through Boca and found this little taco shop, so we decided to check it out. There are a few designated parking spaces on the side of the building, which was handy. They don't need many because the place is tiny. There are only a few regular tables and some bench seating along the walls. While the interior is minimalistic, it's clean and cheery. We finally decided to order several of the tacos and share them. They were two for $4. I tried the chicken, fish and steak. It took a while to get them, as they are cooked to order. The chicken was first. It needed salt and had very little flavor. It was topped with finely chopped onion and cilantro. The onion flavor was totally lost. The fish was perfectly cooked, but again, lacked seasoning. However the cabbage topping was nice and the sauce had good flavor. It was a good taco, nothing particularly outstanding in either direction. My favorite was the beef. It was cut small, so it was easy to eat. The meat had a very nice grilled flavor. It was topped with the same topping as the chicken. There is a "salsa bar," but there were only two flavors, the standard tomato salsa, which was a bit thin and a jalapeño salsa that had a definite kick to it. Overall, it was a good place for a light dinner. While I wouldn't make a special effort to go there, I would definitely return if we were hungry and in the area.

It's about as authentic as you can get in this area. Very inexpensive and tasty. Extremely friendly staff. This place reminds me of many of the taco shops that replaced our hot dog stands back home in Chicago. I'll be back for sure.

Surprise surprise. I drove by this place hundreds of times and finally, I understand why it's here. The best bang for your buck Mexican food around. I was really surprised. You can't go wrong with what you order, and the jalepeno sauce is amazing. My new local go to place

Just had dinner here, food was amazing, came out very quickly, and the gentleman that assisted me was very polite. I would definitely recommend going there, as I'll be going again. I got the California burrito, the only negative was at a Mexican restaurant charges for chips as you wait for your meal. Definitely great for lunch or dinner any day of the week.

I'm warming up to this place. They are always busy. It takes awhile. I still stand by that - and I think calling in would be a good idea. I'm warming up because the salads here are killer. I should have noticed when everyone ordered that in my group the first time, but the salads are huge, well priced, and come with a yummy dressing. Plus, I quite enjoyed the small shrimp that were covering the salad - they don't hold back with the meat in these. I keep coming back because it is an interesting place and their ingredients are good. It's just a matter of finding what is really good here from what is just OK.

Trying something new while up in Boca. This taco place was easy to find on Federal and is close to Mizner Park. I had a fish, steak and chicken taco. The fish tacos were grilled as opposed to fried, which is what is usually offered when you see fish tacos on menus. The chicken and fish tacos were pretty mild and were definitely meant to have salsa added to them. They did have a little salsa bar so I figured that's why the flavors were so mild. The steak taco was definitely the best. It had the most flavor even know it was cooked all the way through. Then again it would be practically impossible to cook the steak medium rare because it was diced up. The price for 2 tacos was $4.50, which I didn't think was too bad. They also offer burritos and salads and quesadillas. Next time I want to try the burritos because I think they would be more filling. You can also get guacamole and chips as a side with your meal. When I'm in the area looking for some Mexican food, I would go back and try some of the other items on the menu. The staff was friendly and nice and the food was prepared pretty fast. It's a tiny place with only a few tables, so it's more of a take out place. There is a lot next to the restaurant that shares slots with 2 other restaurants next to them. Taco Prince has a couple parking spots marked in the lot.

EXCELLENT taco chicken salad, and fish tacos (grilled, not fried). Make sure you double up and get 4 tacos, for like only 6-7 bucks. I eat lunch here at least once a week (including today!!) Five stars! And reasonably priced, especially for stuffy east boca

  • Keith B.

Great little find. Just wanted a quick taco and was in Boca so brought out trusty yelp 'what's nearby' for Mexican food and voila..taco prince. Perfectly hit the spot. Small place, rolled up to counter and ordered 2 'award winning' beef tacos. Within minutes they were out, and they were darn good. Had the cojita cheese on them. Will definitely go again.

  • Susan L.

Epic fail, when it comes to tacos. Rude, unfriendly guy behind the counter didn't help either. Try being courteous to customers, and maybe actually put some fish in your fish tacos!!! Btw, your supposed to put cabbage in fish tacos NOT lettuce! You suck!!!

    (1)
  • Owl P.

This place has been open in Boca for a long time and I've never been so I decided to check it out. The interior design is minimal. Tried the chicken tacos, was really unimpressed. They have that oily grilled taste that some people love but I'm not into it, and minimal flavoring. Swing and a miss.

  • D T.

Really good, I get the California burrito but the other stuff is pretty good too. We come here a lot. Fast service, nice staff, good food. It's a small place and fills up, but you can order online and pick it up.

    (4)
  • Anna S.

Food is ok. But one star because the guy at the counter gave me attitude about "taking too long" to pick up my food. "Its been 30 minutes already." Seriously? Start delivering, my friend. And update your menu pricing.

Good fast option for Mexican somewhat limited menu but haven't had anything here that wasn't good

  • Hannah W.

I LOVE this place! My office is right around the corner, so I eat here about once a week and the food is consistently delicious. The bean burrito is my go-to option and I must say, they are my favorite Mexican beans I've ever had. Be sure to try the sauces they make homemade on the side. I can't really figure out why this place doesn't have better reviews, but I have a feeling it's because it's near the pretentiousness of Mizner Park and this place is far from pretentious!

  • Gary M.

Courteous, tasty and convenient... for Boca, anyway. Easy to find on Federal, the Taco Prince has a very courteous staff. I had thee fish tacos and the steak tacos. The fish tacos were grilled nicely with a bit of a crust but still moist and tender. The flavor was mild as is usual for the fish used and the slaw included in the taco had a nice little tang to it. I enjoyed the fish tacos as served and did not even add salsa to them. The steak tacos were better than similar tacos I have had elsewhere. The steak was actually small "tablet" pieces, well seasoned and not overcooked. I did add salsa to this taco and the one I chose was the jalapeno salsa. Almost glowing green in appearance, it definitely had the flavor of the jalapenos evident but was enjoyable... not excruciatingly hot! My reason for 3 stars instead of 4 is that the cilantro is mixed in with the onions and there is no way to get the onions without the cilantro. Reminds me of Rubio's in Southern California. I don't know why these restaurant owners think everyone should like cilantro! I really hate it and have to pick it out of the tacos. SUGGESTION Taco Prince.... chop the onion and the cilantro separately. Make all your customers happy... not just the cilantro lovers.

    (3)
  • Jason M.

OK food...even closer to good, but I will never go there again! The staff and owner has no sence of how to treat there guests. I thought the woman who worked there was just rude and unaccommodating. While I was there I saw the owner chew out a customer. Frankly...I have no idea what it was about. I heard the customer say "I don't like your attitude and I'm going to leave and never come back" The owner yelled back stuff that I can't write on this forum. My experience was not a pleasant one.

Was working locally and thought id give this place a try based on the reviews. I had the soft shell tacos, and ended up eating them with a fork and knife! Lol The tortillas just fell apart, all the food fell onto the plate. I asked if i could get new tortillas, even purchase them, and was told No! Wtf? I was a little taken back, and asked if there was anything else i could do. I was told thats the way they are, and i should use a fork. I thought tacos are supposed to be handhelds! As far as the filling, and pretty much everything else including some strange orange sauce that was served with them, all lacked a decent amount of flavor. The meat was tender, and smelled good, i think even a little salt would have gone a long way with it,and added some, but oh well. It wasnt terrible, but wouldnt come back. I think im just going to drive up the street to Chipotle grill.

Amero-Mexican style. California Burrito, Fish Salad, and Cokes in glass bottles are the main reason why I keep coming back. Cool stop, specially on beach days.

  • Fish H.

Ate there a couple days ago, 1 star is too high.the older lady that works there is beyond rude! She insulted my wife and I because we didn't want to order more than 2 tacos. We ordered 2 steak tacos to go which took 20 minutes to get. They don't update you. I wish the young girl behind the counter said it's almost ready but that would mean she would have to put down her cell phone which that didn't happen. Don't order the guacamole, you can buy it from Costco because that's exactly what it is. Took 20 minutes for our food to come out, 2 tiny tacos took 20 minutes. I couldn't believe it. Tacos were mediocre at best, no flavor, extremely small, and the corn tortillas they use taste like cardboard. Do yourself a favor and go to taco bell, you will get a better deal, better service, and your food will come out quicker.

    (1)
  • Karl G.

Really? You would be better off going to taco bell. I can make better tacos at home but I guess for Boca these are good? Next time I plan to try the shwarma place next door.

Best Burritos in south Florida. I love this place so does everyone at my office. You can not go wrong with the JP or the California burrito, it has french fries in it, that's right french fries. just hands down best Mexican food in palm beach. Service is second to none as well.

  • Tara J.

Exactly what I was looking for -- inexpensive and tasty tacos, with a nice little assortment of choices. This is a small place where you order at the counter, have a seat, and wait for them to call your name so you can pick up your order at the counter. Chips and salsa do not come with your meal but only cost .99 extra. They've got a little salsa bar with mild, medium and hot choices, and sliced lime. Any time I'm jonesin for spinach tacos, I'm heading to Taco Prince. Cheaper than Rocco's Tacos and none of that Boca pretentiousness. Come as you are.

    (4)
  • Avery S.

Really good street tacos but kind of pricey because you need to order two orders to be SEMI full and I'm a female that wouldn't normally order double and still be hungry. Also they don't put cheese on tacos ? Hmmm. Strange. But it's ok and I would go back if it was a last Mexican option. Oh and parking is TERRIBLE.

  • Christina S.

Wow wow wow wow! What a great place! Little casual taco place with indoor seating. We wanted to sit outside with the pooches so they were so kind and set up a table outside for us. We just had to mention it, and we had a wonderful night with great weather. Cold Coronas, the California Burrito, Mahi tacos with real Mexican cheese, chips, salsa, guacamole...I want to go back tomorrow and do the EXACT same thing again! Gloria was so nice and helpful. Amazing food, great service. I can't think of anything I would change. We have found a new home. :) Burrito was $6.95, tacos were $3.95 for two. Great prices. The value is phenomenal.

  • Shelby D.

First off I want to get out of the way that the staff is extremely rude and unhelpful but I just ignore them and don't let that get into the way of the BEST California Burrito ever. This burrito is the most perfect thing ever, and I am completely addicted to it. Very good food!

    (4)
  • Keith A.

I dig this place. The California Burrito is absolutely magnificent, the salsa is very good, get it with a mexicoke and you've god yourself a great lunch. The burritos are cleaner than chipotle or more in that they don't disintegrate in you hands after one or 2 bites and the place is locally owned to my knowledge. Good eats

  • Rachel M.

It's been nearly two plus years since my last review...after trying to decide on affordable lunch, ended up back at Taco Prince. This time I ordered the steak tacos and doubled up. In all seriousness, I forgot how small the tacos were... like really small tacos. Yes, these small tacos are filled with meat, the meat is not amazing, its good, but not great. I stopped at their sauce bar and picked up some sauce to have with the chips and salsa I purchased. Soooo the jalapeno sauce is just that--pureed jalapenos... very spicy! The avocado sauce isn't bad...definitely cools your tongue down after trying the jalapeno sauce. If hunger brings me back here, I'll definitely skip the tacos and go for the ever-popular California burrito. Hoping it delivers as promoted ::fingers crossed::.

California burrito is incredible. Friends, uhh, I mean fries, on the insides. Steak, avocado and all the delights. Get the hot green sauce. Definitely home made

The California Burrito is literally my favorite food in the world! I created yelp just to state it. Mix the avocado sauce with a dash of jalapeno sauce. I've introduced about fifteen people to it and they all love it.

Both the Spinach and Mushroom and Beef Special Tacos exceeded high expectations. Nice to have an affordable but tasty option in the tony Mizner area. Will return soon.

I have been to Taco Prince twice now. The first time the food was excellent, the second visit was sub-par. Both times I had the same thing, the award winning beef tacos. Both times the place was clean and the people were friendly. The tacos the second time the meat was lower quality (fatty/greasy), the rice tasted funny, and it was missing the sauce. I would try it again because the first time was so good, but if it was bad again I would stop going.

I frequented this restaurant for some time, but a negative experience keeps me from going back. The food is an Americanized version of Mexican, which is quite tasty, though can be a little pricey for the portion. The California burrito is the standout, which contains french fries inside. There is another with jalapeno poppers inside -- also very good. However, I ordered a meal with a Coke zero can. When given to me, there was no drink, which I didn't notice until I walked back to work. (Not a big deal, mistakes happen.) I went back a few hours later on a break to pick up my drink and a different employee was on staff. They denied me the drink, because I could not prove that I'd purchased it. I just felt disrespected for what was their oversight and have not been back since. It's a shame that they lost a regular for what amounts to a 20 cent can of soda.

Blah...Store bought chips, got steak burrito with lettuce, the lettuce was too cold it actually had Ice crystals on it that froze my teeth, the older lady would rather argue about the lettuce"must be cold" than just make another without ICE COLD Lettuce. I will not be back TACO BELL is better

Ugh!! I definitely will not be going back. The food was not good at all, Taco Bell is better!!!!!!! The custome service was horrible, I had to repaeat my order multiple times and finally had to tell the lady taking my order to pay attention to me and still got my order wrong. When I brought it to the womans attention, she said next time they will get it right!!! What !?!??? Next time?? are you kidding me??? If I did not have to go, I would have waited to get a refund and left my trash burritto there!!!!!!!!!! To top it off I also ordered to steak tacos and only received one!!!!!! I hate this place and definitely will make sure I tell everyone not to eat here.

I love this little hidden taco gem!! My brother and his wife introduced me to Taco Prince and I have been a fan ever since. I really did not know what to expect, I have always driven by it but never really had the chance to get in, its really good! The meats (chickin/fish) are cooked right then and there so there may be a little wait...but its worth it. Either choice of fish, chicken or meat you cannot go wrong. I am not a salsa fan but my brother always dabbles in them. Definitely have to check out the California Burrito!! Happy Eats!!!

Sweet baby jesus I cannot believe how long it took for my food to come out. I ordered a chicken burrito and waited over 30 minutes for it to come out. I was also the only one in the restaurant so I know it wasn't because it was busy. Don't bother coming here horrible service and long wait ...

California Burrito is amazing. Just picked up for a few co workers as well. First time for all of us, only a couple miles from work. Prices are great, food is awesome. Im sure we will be back soon.

I was driving up Federal looking for a Pollo Tropical or something then I saw this place and I figured I'd give it a shot. I ordered 2 chicken & 2 fish tacos. I thought it would come out right away but it took about 15 minutes for them to call me up for my order. It was definitely worth the wait though. Very authentic Mexico City style tacos complimented by some great sauces that they serve. This will be a weekly lunch stop for me. Prices very reasonable.

I was stationed in California, and recently moved back to South Florida. Since returning I have been searching for a California burrito, something good enough to get my fix for the ones I got in San Diego. Found this place online, ordered the Cali Burrito, and was amazed. Not only do they compete with socal Cali burrito's but they are better than some places in Cali. The Cali burrito's are so good from Taco Prince I gladly drive from Ft Lauderdale to get one. Also the green Jalapeno is awesome.

The girl at the front counter was pretty rude to me but not my friend. Maybe she just didn't like my face or something. Regardless the food is delicious and service is quick so I can deal with a little snarky attitude for a few minutes if the reward tastes as good as it does here.

I've been here many many mannny times! I decided it was time for a review. I love taco prince and have never been disappointed with the food. I usually get a mushroom or chicken burrito but love their tacos and taco salads too. I can't believe some people have the nerve to compare them to taco bell! I will say that the wait time is sometimes long but you can see them make it right there behind the counter so you know its fresh. I did have one issue with the manager (owner?) a couple years ago that really pissed me off. I would go there at least twice a week bc i used to live 5 mins away and one day she wanted to get nasty over me asking for an extra salad dressing and made me pay 25 cents after i already paid. Very rude to act that way to a regular who gives you a lot of business. I took some time off from going there for awhile but the food is great so I keep going.

Probably the best authentic tacos around. Atmosphere is nothing impressive, but the food makes up for it. Great prices, excellent food, and the staff are great. This is a weekly spot for me. You'll be hooked!

The food is not good me and my friends got sick. This place just serve the cheap food I never ever go back again. If you need good tacos just pay 1 dollar more then go to chipotle a lot better!! The old lady (manager or owner) she really rude!!

Working around Mizner Park has given me the opportunity to try different restaurants while on my lunch breaks - today was "Taco Prince". After reading many reviews (both good & not-so-great) I decided to check it out for myself. I entered in the restaurant and was immediately greeted by a friendly woman behind the counter. She asked if I had been there before and I said no, so she proceeded to help me through my food options. I already had my mind set on the Fish & Spinach tacos, considering someone on Yelp recommended it, and ordered those with two extra tacos and added the 99¢ chips & salsa combo to my meal. My whole meal (including my bottle of water) was under $8 - WOW! The interior was a little warm, but the woman behind the counter mentioned that if I sat at a table instead of the bar (lined up along the wall) I would feel "cooler" [temperature wise, heh.] Now, the reason why I gave Taco Prince a 3-out-of-5 stars was the quality of the food. The taco itself was nice - the queso cheese, avocado and spinach... but the fish was bland. No seasoning. I was disappointed, to say the least. I will absolutely return, though, to try their quesadillas and have more of the homemade chips and salsa - that's rad stuff.

I came in for tacos but they seem to advertise their burritoes much more, so that already should have been a red flag. I was already in the area and I was really craving tacos so I caved and paid $4.75 for two chicken tacos. Expected the tacos to be substantial but it was barely topped with anything. The amount of protein was laughable and they skimped on the garnishes. I'll stop ranting and say that I expected real tacos but instead ended up with two corn tortillas with sprinkles on top. The woman who served me told me to order double meat next time. For $2? What a rip off.

Food is pretty good but owner is rude. Puts a sour note on the meal. Burritos are better than the tacos. I would go back but would not make it a habit.

Ahhhhh the California Burrito, what a great way to get full along side with 2 tacos. Obviously have to add chips n salsa + a Mexican soda... c'mon now

  • Justy H.

Took a little long but I guess that is the price you pay for "homemade quality" Mexican. I ordered the infamous California Burrito, not knowing what to expect. Turns out it is really great! The sauce bar provides multiple sauces, mild avocado to spicy jalapeño. I recommend spicy jalapeño! Burrito is really great! Shrimp delishness, and that's coming from a person who hates shrimp mixed with Mexican food. Try it!

They don't have fresh brewed tea or fountain drinks. My kids wanted chicken tacos and they served them tiny tacos with about a teaspoon of chopped chicken loaded with onions. I kindly asked if we can have just chicken and cheese and the cashier had to call the manager to ask. We got bad looks from the cooks that prepared the new tacos and they ended up not being very appetizing after all. Not a friendly accommodating place, nor kid friendly.

We stumbled upon this place after learning Baja Cafe wasn't open for lunch on this particular day. I was very skeptical about Taco Prince because whenever I try a new Mexican restaurant, I'm always disappointed by bland overpriced food. Not here! I ordered the ground beef burrito and it was delish and in my opinion, very authentic. The ground beef was the most flavorful I've ever had - it had small pieces of potato, corn, carrots & potato which was a nice surprise. I loved their chipotle sauce and complimentary creamy avocado salsa. All in all this was the best burrito I've had in a long time. Even though this place is quite small & it doesn't have the charming decor like Baja Cafe, the food is fresh and full of flavor, so I highly recommend!

Taco Prince... you are an enigma... especially for Taco Prince virgins, as I was this past week, when I dined there for lunch. It's about the food, right? So I'll start there. I had the California Burrito ($6.95) without cheese. Not what I planned to order at first, but the cashier recommended it. As noted in some other reviews, and as listed on the menu, it is carne asada, cheese, guacamole, avocado slices, pico de gallo, and french fries. Seemed to me there was another sauce on there as well, orange in color. I enjoyed the burrito. Companion had two tacos (they come in sets of two) which are your traditional, authentic Mexican taco (small corn tortilla topped with chopped meat (grilled chicken in our case), cilantro and onions. $3.95. She also had chips and salsa. Salsa was good, seemed fresh, albeit a tad watery. Okay, now to the rest of the story... and a quirky one it is. Chips and salsa were 75 cents for chips and 75 cents for salsa. We ordered these, only to later see there is a mini-salsa bar in the back corner which is free. Appeared to have different salsa, but still feel like the cashier could have mentioned something i.e. if you're eating in, you might want to just take advantage of the salsas over there... Chips - there were maybe 12 chips in the basket. Lots of free space in the basket. Since I'm paying for them i.e. they aren't free, I would think they could be a little more generous. Receipt - they didn't give me an itemized bill for eat-in so I don't know if I was charged correctly or not... They don't take Discover or AmEx - only Visa/Mastercard. They don't have tap water... so you either have to buy bottled water/pop or go thirsty. I can't recall having seen this before - a basic that they are missing. We placed a carry-out order after we were done eating in order to bring back food for another person. Based on other reviews, guessed we could order the same tacos with lettuce and cheese (mozzarella?) instead of cilantro/onion, but no mention of this on the menu or by the cashier when placing the original dine-in order. You can double up the order i.e. get four tacos instead of two for only $1.95 extra. If you want hard shell tacos, they cost 15 cents extra per taco (shouldn't it say 30 cents extra since you have to order in sets of two?). Hard shells come with lettuce/cheese instead of cilantro/onion. Refried beans are vegetarian ($1.25) and were enjoyed. All the tables are high-tops; would guess there was probably seating for just under 20 people in there. So 4 stars on the food, but minus one star for the odd business practices. Want to go back to try the grilled mahi-mahi tacos; will return a wiser customer with my own bottled water...

Perfect place for a couple of broke college kids to grab lunch. Welcome change from the usual chipotle/moes. Loved their California burrito! Very chill atmosphere. Not the best for large groups though.

Overall average experience. The food was expensive for a cheaply made poorly produced restaraunt. Everything is on plastic environmentally unfriendly non-reusable trays and plastic forks and knives and spoons. That is just the beginning. The lady behind the counter was unfriendly, and refused us a cup of water, she said that if we wanted water, that we would have to buy a bottle. This is purely nasty, she was rude and had sass in her voice. The food was decent, small portions for a high cost. The restaraunt was not very clean, there were salsas and things left on the table from the people before us. The food was decently authentic. The decor was plain and there was nothing special there. Everything costs extra money, which is another con. It costs more money to ask for extra chips, more water, salsa, hot sauce, EVERYTHING! It is kind of crazy in my opinion how a restaraunt like this consistently has customers. I would not suggest going to Taco Prince.

I'm hooked on the California Burrito. I'll admit the whole "french fries in a burrito" thing is probably really bad for me but I don't care. I'm in America. If I want to consume a California Burrito every day for the rest of my life and die of a heart attack at 45 I will. And believe me, it will be worth every bite.

Very good an inexpensive. I got the burrito after seeing a recommendation from my best of app that said this place was the best burrito in broward and palm beach county. It defiantly lived up to its expectation. The quesadilla was also very good.

You know how some people in high society have afternoon tea? I'm a fan of the tradition, but am not much of a tea drinker. My version of that is the late afternoon taco. Because tacos rule. And Taco Prince was the perfect spot for this. Now I consider myself to be a Taco Duke. Not the king. Certainly not the Queen. But well above a mere peasant. Something like a Duke. A kick-ass Duke. And the Duke of Tacos has decreed that the Prince of Tacos makes a fine one. Not too big, not too small. Made fresh to order. Fish very lightly fried and fresh tasting. Chicken not bland. Vegetables aplenty. Good for a small bite. Get a bunch to share with your friends if having a full meal. My you be a benevolent ruler Taco Prince. I expect to hear stories of your good natured ways in the future.

I eat here like all the time! Although their menu prices went up and I was upset, I could not help but go back for more! So yummy! I'm actually gonna go eat there today again :) My food is always done in a timely and consistent manner. Never have been dissapointed.

Let's be real - the Mexican food in Florida leaves a lot to be desired, so I was excited to see that Taco Prince finally opened (their sign has been up for what seems like years....). I love love love their tacos. No grease, no cheese, no sour cream. Authentic and delicious. The prices are right too. Yay!

I ate the best burrito of my life for lunch this afternoon. Which burrito, you ask? And how was it so amazing? Well, let me tell you! Taco Prince offers a burrito called the California. You should order this beautiful creation.. like now. This burrito is stuffed with carne asada, french fries (!!!), guac, avocado slices, pico de gallo and cheese. Jeebus.. hats off to whoever thought of putting french fries in this delicious monstrosity. The flavors blended so well (especially with the spicy jalapeno sauce and mild avocado sauce offered at their sauce bar). Not only was everything super fresh, but said burrito was simply massive. Like chipotle size massive. But a billion times better than chipotle. The two women working were so friendly and welcomed us as the first timers we told them we were. Ordering and food prep was pretty quick, too. They also offer Mexican beers and sodas for purchase. Thank you, woman at counter, for reassuring me the Cali burrito would be a great choice. I feel as though I will never have such a satisfying burrito sold to me anywhere else ever again for the rest of time.

One of my favorite lunch places. The taco salad is massive and the dressing on it is yummy. I love the tacos and you get 2 per order. I just wish i would be able to mix and match different tacos instead of getting the same two per order. Other than that, i love this place.

This place was a great find! Honestly, the name made me hesitant but as soon as I walked in and was greeted instantly by a smiling worker my opinion was changed. The workers are all very friendly and the restaurant is small but well-maintained. The food is very tasty, well-priced and it's nice to get to have the choice of Mexican soda with your meal as well. I will definitely go back and have told many friends about this place as well!

  • Lone R.

Good taco's, reasonable price. I enjoyed their selection of sauces. However, I only give it three stars, for two reasons: 1) The guacamole was puree', I assume it came from a can. 2) They do not have Jalepeno's on the menu. ( I find this bizarre for a Mexican eatery. ) Therefore I couldn't get the heat I wanted on my taco's.. the hot sauce wasn't hot enough for me.

  • David S.

I work just south of Taco Prince and have been walking here since the place opened for lunch each week. While the food is decent, it could use more spice, flavor or seasoning. A few coworkers of mine have been offput by the fact that they wont allow you to "customize" the tacos. It doesn't say what comes on them on the large green chalkboard like menu hanging on the back wall. They ask "would you like cilantro and onions OR cheese and lettuce", but will not put it all on the taco even if you ask. What restaurant have you ever gone to that tells a customer "NO" for a small reasonable request? I basically keep coming here each week due to the convenience of the location. I would always order a burrito and a soda. Well just recently I decided to switch it up and ordered 2 steak tacos which are $3.95 for the duo (any type of tacos you order are $3.95). It's only $1.95 to "double it up". Well that was awesome I thought, I figured I would get 2 chicken tacos to compliment my steak ones. Well.. I was charged another $3.95 and told you can't do that either. When I confronted the newer cashier, she replied thats just the way it is and was extremely rude. I don't think I'll be going back...

Wanted to love it because it reminded me of typical Cali taco stand, but I left trying to decided if I was severely disappointed or I just didn't like it period. The tacos are puny which I'm fine with since they give you 4, but there isn't much on them. I know the meat isn't the best quality because when you eat chicken that's gristly it's a prob. The place is a sweat box though and they seriously need to fix that A/C because it's a challenge to eat hot tacos off the grill when it feels like 90 inside and its more than likely 90 outside too. This place is owned by the people who are behind Senior Burrito and Las Fatijas, so I know they know what A/C is. Moral of the story, tacos are alright but really not at all what I had imagined. Meat could be higher grade and a bit more flavorful too. Prices are good though and the place is rarely busy so you'll be in and out in no time.

Taco Prince is awesome! I love their burritos and that is where they get all the stars from me. If you are a Taco Prince virgin order the steak burrito with everything on it! It is a meal and a half but every bite will take you to burrito heaven. Also, get the chips for 99cents more and take advantage of their fresh salsa/avacado sauce bar! Disclaimer: If you only want tacos, these aren't my favorite. JUST GET THE BURRITO!

I'm vegetarian. I'm a former Moe's customer. My favorite from Taco Prince is the burritos. Moe's Art Vandalay is a distant and forgettable memory. Both the black beans and re-fried beans at Taco Prince are excellent. I know there are some reviews that complain about the rice in the burritos. The way I see it, rice has no place in a burrito! Cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream on the side, guacamole on the side, perfect. The chipotle sauce takes getting used to. Taking the spinach and mushroom version is an interesting diversion, but I'm more partial to beans. Note that Taco Prince does not serve *bean* tacos, so take that into account before you go. If you're vegetarian and you want tacos, your option here are spinach tacos as I think they don't serve mushroom tacos. Exactly once, the guacamole was not so great. This is once over the course of 50 visits. The salsa choices at the minibar are great. I've never had an issue with the tortilla chips. I think the price is perfectly fair for the quality and serving size. This isn't Taco Bell, people. Single Dollar Cheap+gourmet does not exist. The parking situation can be annoying in that the lot in front of Taco Prince has poor visibility when you are trying to drive out.

Taco Prince is pretty good... I had a burrito with everything. Cant really go wrong there. It was a little mushy by the end but the ingredients were good. It's kind of a little hole in the wall looking but the inside is REALLY clean. I liked it, and I'd definitely go back.

Cozy taco place with lovely decor, friendly service and good food. It's nice to see a clean and well priced place like this in boca. I got the California burrito and yum it was delic! Also got a side of guac which was tasty and my BF got a chorizo quesadilla which was fine (not great). And I happened to dig the music playing softly in the background... It seemed like they stole my pandora station! If you are tired of the typical pretentious Boca places, check out this little joint. I can't wait to go back to try the tacos!

Great authentic Mexican food. The California burrito (steak, guacamole, french fries) is excellent. They also have Mexican sodas (Coke made with cane sugar, not corn syrup). They have three varieties of fresh, home-made salsa and their hot salsa actually has a bite to it, unlike most other Mexican restaurants around here. Only negative is that they only sell bottled/canned beverages. Would be much better if they had a soda fountain where you could get refills. I need more than a single can of Coke with my meal.

The place was very hot inside I got beef tacos and my kids got chicken tacos it was good but took a long time to make not because the food took long to cook but because they didnt cook it right away the cans of soda were over priced and the A/C was off or not working ??? what i really didnt like is the pest guy came in the front door and had 4 big rat traps in his hands !!! go threw the back so we didnt have to see that !!! the food is no better then MOE's southwest grill!!! i dont think i need to go back to a place that charges more for hard then soft tacos LOL they wount last long

Recently visited this restaurant and I was pleased to find an affordable, family owned taco joint. I ordered two steak and two chicken tacos which I scarfed down real quick, and my date ordered chips and salsa and chicken tacos. The tacos were great because they actually tasted very fresh. The chips and salsa was good too, but they could have definitely added a little bit more chips. I like this place because the menu is small and simple, the food comes out quick, and the staff was friendly. Can't really ask for more, except for those chips!

I ordered the California Burrito because I saw Yelpers raving about it and I certainly did not regret it. That sucker was magical! The only complaint I have about them though is their location. From the moment I walked in I smelled something funny that I could not get over. We took our food to go.

I did not like this place at all. I was looking for a quick, cheap snack and it was there. I just ordered the steak tacos thinking it is pretty hard to mess that up and I had to force myself to eat it. First of all the cashier asked if I would like "onions and cilantro or cheese and tomato" I said can you put it all? The answer: No. This is a customer service world and if I want it and would even had paid extra for it, give it to me! Its my problem when everything does not fit into the tiny, stale corn tortilla. The steak looked like Alpo dog food and was so wet that it turned the tortilla to mush. Gross

I've lived in California for most of my life and spent a few years in San Diego, the birth-place of the California Burrito (yes, the one with the fries and the carne asada). I know a good California Burrito and this place has one. It has flavorful carne asada and stuffed with fries, salsa and cheese. The Guacamole isn't totally authentic, but it wasn't a totally unwelcome addition. Also, the burrito is the right California Burrito size, ie Big. Sure, paying 6.95$ for a burrito that would cost $5 in California, is kinda tough, but it's not like there a lot of alternatives around here. BTW, the tacos here are authentic street taco size. So don't be surprised that you can easily eat 4 of the tacos. Also, they need to work on making their french fries crispier. The lady that worked the counter is very nice. I will be back.

Taco Prince serves authentic, quick, fresh Mexican food. Counter-style. They have fantastic tortillas! I always like to judge a taco place by its tortillas...if you can eat the tortilla by itself, then you know you have a good taco place. Not only does Taco Prince have good tortillas, soft and white corn, but the fillings are good and fresh too. All taco orders come in two's, and these are small tacos, maybe 4-6" diameter, so you will definitely eat two. I have only tried the fish and spinach, but boy is it good! It is somewhat simple, just fresh grilled Mahi with sautéed, NOT FROZEN OR CANNED, spinach and a slice of avocado. It is truly fantastic and for $3.95 for two, even better! They also allow any taco order to be "doubled" for just $2 bucks more, so that is 4 TACOS for $6 BUCKS! Now that is better than Taco Bell, and without the horse meat or preservatives yay! I still have yet to try the other taco types or fillings, but the fish is fresh, no smell, and the spinach is good so I opt for this taco all the time. Other great things on their menu include the quesadillas and taco salads. Now the taco salad uses a flour tortilla shell and not corn, but it is still fried and crunchy. Personally, I like the flour shell better for the salad because it is lighter in taste, but I know the usual is a corn shell. Again, the price can't be beat....$5.95 for the salad with a meat of your choice and this salad is HUGE! Enough for 3 people. the quesadillas are also great, I have tried chorizo and mushroom. I enjoyed the mushroom a little more only because of the type of chorizo that is used for the quesadilla....the smoked sausage chorizo and not the ground chorizo. Again, this menu item is affordable= $4.95 and comes with a side of rice or choice of beans. Stellar! The only thing at Taco Price that will eat your wallet is the beverage selection. They only carry bottled beverages and they are not cheap, but they do have Mexican Fanta and Coke!! yay!! Get down to TACO PRINCE NOW!

This place should be called Taco Nickle n' Dime you. They actually charge you $.15 for a hard shell taco, and if you want to mix n' match your tacos they whack you again with an upcharge. Want sour cream on your taco, cha-ching there is another charge. You can't even order one taco it must be in a two-pack. And the chips there are awful, cold and stale, made early in the morning if not the previous day. Not hot n' fresh like at La Bamba. Unlike Chipolte or Moe's there is no ambiance, just a bare bones taco shop with no TV, no stereo, and some okay food at best. I think the best thing to say to this place is adios!

The french fries inside my steak burrito just blew my mind! What a great feed- the food was definitely fresh, the burrito was wrapped well, very tight. Actually extremely easy to eat (which is a big deal to me, i hate when they fall apart), and for $9.50 I'm stuffed to the core but don't feel like I over-ate by any means. This place is definitely worth trying out... oh yeah Chips & Salsa for .99c? You better believe it!

I hadn't tried a California burrito before. I was pleasantly impressed, it had different textures and favors in every bite. It was quite moist and didn't need any additional help from the sauces, although their jalapeno sauce gave it a nice kick. The ambiance could use a little help, I had a fan blowing at my feet. The personal we're friendly and polite. For a quick bite or a take out, I would recommend this to a friend.

This place is average and over priced for the size of the portions, which are quite small. I ordered soft shell shrimp tacos and they were so small. They used bay shrimps, so I don't recommend those. My husband got chicken hard shell tacos and the shells were stale. We also ordered a side of rice and black beans. The rice was dry but the beans were good. They had two great salsas. One was a tomato salsa and the other an avocado salsa that were delicious! I'd go back just for the salsa!

the tacos are pretty decent here, but my major gripe with the place is that i don't like the way the pricing is set up. when i go to a real taco shop, i like to order singles. it should be easy enough to order maybe 3 tacos with different fillings, then decide that i'm still hungry and ask for one more. well you can't do that here. they sell them in 2's. i think this is incredibly annoying. so if i want 1 steak taco, 1 chicken, and 1 fish, i can't get it. it's nice to have an authentic mexican option in boca. but i think because they are located there they think that people here have money, or are stupid, or even both, and that they can get away with it.

so for whatever reason i keep wanting to call this place "taco palace," which makes it sound like a chinese buffet. but anyway, on to the review! this place is delicious and cheap, what more to do you need? my friend and i went and got four tacos each, guac and chips a beer and a drink all for just under $20. and it was very tasty, no taco bell tacos here!

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
